Short Bio
With bursting energy and urge for self-expression, Cool Guy Hiro in younger years was a kind of kid who experimented everything that struck him as cool, such as ultra budget moviemaking and making poems. However, it wasn't long before he found his true talent and passion: journalism. In order to expose himself to purer truth of the world, teenaged Hiro began studying English on his own and soon became fluent in the language to the point he was teaching it to his adult friends.
After graduating from high school, he went straight to the United States and became a student at Texas A&M University. He had decided to put himself in this Deep South state with one goal: to experience the true Americana. After 1.5 years of cultural learning and personal growth there, Hiro transferred to the University of Southern California, where he pursued studying journalism / communication. Life as a college student in Los Angeles, a city known as entertainment capital of the world and as a melting pot of various cultures, sharpened his identity as artist, journalist and Japanese.
During his college years, he stretched his artistic endeavors to music and, for his children's song, became a surprise winner of the prestigious Rentaro Taki Award in the composition category in 2001. With BA degree in Print Journalism from USC, he returned to Japan and then relocated to Tokyo in 2004.
In 2006, Hiro had another success with children's material. As a last-minute replacement, he took a teacher's role in musical stage production on Anne of Green Gables and, for this exclusively limited two-time engagement, garnered much acclaim from audience and critics. It is around this time when Hiro started to be called Cool Guy Hiro.
His other talent credits include rock live shows, acting in experimental theater / short movies, and commercial modeling.
With journalist spirit and discipline in his blood, Hiro is also active behind the spotlight. From 2005 to 2008, he worked for the world's leading soft drink company as promoter / coordinator and has been regarded as one of the leading contributors to the company's success in Japan.
Recently, he lent his high coordination expertise to a US reality TV show crew shooting an episode in Tokyo. He soon followed this highly exciting and challenging ride with another TV project for two Japanese TV stations. For all those TV projects, he also appeared as Cool Guy Hiro in front of the lens (notably, as one of two mains in the US reality TV show).
Aside from works, Hiro loves hanging out with friends and watching big great Broadway musicals. In his free time, he enjoys writing screenplays, swimming in the pool, going on a picnic in the park, and chewing gum for next inspiration.
